NCDs on Rise in Coastal Belt: Study

Popping the popular perception that coastal population in Kerala were at low-risk to contract non-communicable disease (NCD) is a recent study that shows an uptick in the number of patients suffering from heart diseases, cancer and hypertension in the coastal belt.

Though, the state government has been indulged in grassroots-level awareness programmes on NCDs, which is already on a high, a study conducted by the Global Institute of Public Health (GIPH) says that the coastal areas are in the high-risk category and do not get as much attention as the other regions.
