Inauguration of the Anti Microbial Resistance Centre
The Anti Microbial Resistance Centre at the Global Institute of Public Health (GIPH) was officially inaugurated by Shri. Antony Raju, Hon. Minister for Road Transport, Government of Kerala, on 19 October 2023 at the auditorium of Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute. Shri. Antony Raju also delivered the inaugural address.
The formal ceremony opened with a welcome address by Dr. Nidheesha Noushad, MPH Scholar at GIPH. Dr. SS Lal, Professor and Head of Public Health at GIPH, introduced the new centre and its vision and mission. Prof. Dr. A. Marthanda Pillai, Director of GIPH, delivered the presidential address, and Dr. Reena K L, Director of Health Services, Government of Kerala, delivered the keynote address. Medical and academic leaders, including representatives from the Indian Medical Association and the School of Health Sciences, offered felicitations. Dr. Shamna Salim, MPH Scholar at GIPH, concluded the ceremony with the vote of thanks.
The inauguration programme also included a workshop on antimicrobial resistance. Expert sessions were delivered by Dr. Aravind R, AMR State Nodal Officer, Government of Kerala; Prof. Dr. Salom Gnana Thanga V, Professor at the Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Kerala; and Dr. Hyfa Ali, Assistant Professor at GIPH.
