Dr. Anant Kumar is a Fulbright Scholar, behavioural scientist, and Professor and Head of the Rural Management Programme at Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi.
Academic Background
Dr. Kumar earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology from the University of Allahabad and completed his MPhil and PhD in Social Medicine and Community Health at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Professional Experience
He heads the Rural Management Programme and coordinates the Fellow Programme in Management at XISS. He has also served as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Public Health Leadership Programme at the Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Research and Contributions
His research interests include public health, women’s health, mental health, HIV/AIDS, population and reproductive health, international health, public policy, and leadership. He has published in national and international journals and reviews for several peer-reviewed publications.
Fellowships and Teaching
Dr. Kumar received the Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship and was a Guest Fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla. At GIPH, he teaches Health and Development and Public Health and Policy.
